Working with Erika Thompson of Texas Beeworks is always an adventure. On recent outings, we’ve focused on bee removals and the idea that these could…
We have been working with Carlson Law Firm for a long time now and have shot a lot of videos for them. When they decided that they wanted to produce some television commercials, they came to us. While we normally shoot using Canon 5Ds, we knew that we needed to up our game for this shoot. We would also need a larger crew to handle lighting, sound, teleprompter, and other things.
Bring in the RED
While the Canon 5D is fine camera that has served us well (and will continue to do so), the RED Helium is the real deal. With a 35.4 megapixel sensor and 60 frames per second at 8K full format, it takes the video quality to the next level. The Helium adds sharpness, depth, and warmth to the shot and gives you a lot more detail to work with in post production.
Pre-Production is the Key
We found the perfect setting at the historic Williamson County Courthouse in Georgetown, Texas. Built in 1911, it has a lot of character and added a lot of richness to the shoot. With the location set, the scripts written, and the crew scheduled — it was time to roll.
Lights, Camera, Action
To get the most out of a day of shooting, we had three scripts (plus one Spanish version) to knock out. Luckily, since we’ve worked with the Carlson staff on lots of other videos, they were prepared and ready to roll. The day went smoothly and we were able to wrap it up by the early afternoon. We are very happy with the results and are proud to share them here.
